The Lake Mead National Recreation Area is part of the National Park Service that spans 1.5 million acres in Nevada and Arizona, and includes Lake Mead and Lake Mohave. Both motorized and non-motorized are allowed on both lakes.
Bullhead City is the mecca of personal watercraft (PWC, aka Jet Ski®) along the Lower Colorado River. The city’s shores are lined with public parks, including the Community Park Family Fun Zone and Splash Pad, the best splash pad in Mohave County. The Colorado River in Mohave County is surrounded by both the Havasu National Wildlife Refuge, which encompasses the scenic Topock Gorge, and the Bill Williams National Wildlife Refuge, near Parker Dam. The Havasu National Wildlife Refuge is within the Pacific Flyway, a major bird migratory route in the Western United States, and the Bill Williams National Wildlife Refuge is one of the last functioning ecological systems in the Southwest.
The Virgin River Canyon Recreation Area is featured in Northern Mohave County near the border of Utah; it offers breathtaking hiking, water play, camping and is frequented by rock climbers and canyoneers due to the dramatic red rocks surrounding the river.
