Wild West Adventure

Duration: 3 day stay

Best For: Families, history buffs, outdoor adventurers

Start & End: Chloride, Arizona & Peach Springs, Arizona

Grab your cowboy hat, dust off your boots, and saddle up for a Wild West-themed itinerary that takes you deep into the heart of Mohave County. This unforgettable journey leads you through some of the region's most iconic historically rich destinations, where the old west still echoes through wooden boardwalks and dusty streets.

Day 1

Step into the past in Chloride, Arizona’s oldest continuously inhabited mining town. Nestled at the foot of the Cerbat Mountains, this charming community still carries the rugged spirit of the Old West. Stroll through the town to see its historic buildings, quirky yard art, and local shops. Don’t miss the famous Roy Purcell Murals, a short drive up Murals road, showcase massive, colorful rock art installations painted on canyon walls. Grab lunch at a local saloon-style diner and chat with the friendly residents, many of whom are artists or history buffs keeping Chloride’s legacy alive. End your day with a relaxed evening in Kingman, just a short drive away, where you can enjoy dinner and rest up for the next leg of your Wild West adventure.

Day 2

Drive the legendary Route 66 through the Black Mountains to the old mining town of Oatman, where the Wild West is alive and well. As you enter town, you’ll likely be greeted by wild burros roaming the streets—descendants of the pack animals once used in local mines. Visit the historic Oatman Hotel, where Clark Gable and Carole Lombard reportedly honeymooned. Enjoy a hearty lunch in a local saloon
and gather in the center of town to catch the daily gunfight reenactment. Afterwards, stroll past wooden boardwalks, old-timey shops to browse for western souvenirs and hand-crafted items. In the afternoon, explore nearby Route 66 attractions like Sitgreaves Pass before heading back to Kingman.

Day 3

On your final day, behold the awe-inspiring views of Grand Canyon West, home to the world-famous Skywalk, a glass bridge that extends 70 feet over the canyon’s edge, offering heart-pounding views 4,000 feet above the Colorado River. Operated by the Hualapai Tribe, this area offers a unique cultural and natural experience. Visit Eagle Point to learn about Native American history and see traditional dwellings. Stop by Guano Point for panoramic canyon views and remnants of a historic tram system. You can also add a helicopter or river tour for a more immersive experience. Food and drink are available on-site. Wrap up your Wild West journey by watching the sun set over one of the most iconic landscapes in the American West.
